Murang’a Seal recorded their first win of the 2026/27 Kenya Premier League season with a 5-1 victory over Posta Rangers at SportPesa Arena, responding to their opening-day defeat against Gor Mahia in emphatic fashion.

Majaliwa Charo and Josphat Lopaga scored twice each, while Michael Macharia also found the net as Murang’a punished Posta Rangers in a one-sided encounter.

Both teams came into the match looking for their first points of the campaign. Murang’a had lost 4-2 to Gor Mahia in their opening fixture, while Posta Rangers started their season with a 1-0 defeat to Shabana FC.

Charo gave Murang’a the lead in the 28th minute before doubling their advantage in the 44th minute.

Posta Rangers were unable to contain the hosts before the break, and Lopaga added a third goal in the second minute of stoppage time to send Murang’a into half-time with a comfortable 3-0 lead.

The visitors had more possession but struggled to prevent Murang’a from creating scoring opportunities. The hosts maintained their advantage after the break before adding two more goals in the closing stages.

Macharia made it 4-0 in the 83rd minute, and Lopaga completed his brace two minutes later to put Murang’a five goals ahead.

Posta Rangers scored a consolation goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time when M. Nderitu put the ball into his own net, but the late goal did little to change the outcome.

According to Tisini match data, Posta Rangers enjoyed 62 per cent possession compared to Murang’a’s 38 per cent, but the hosts were more productive in front of goal.

Murang’a registered 23 attempts, including nine on target, as they secured a convincing victory despite spending less time on the ball.

The result gives Murang’a three points from their opening two matches. Having scored twice against Gor Mahia before finding the net five times against Posta Rangers, they have now scored seven goals in the campaign.

Posta Rangers, meanwhile, remain without a point after two matches. They have conceded six goals in their opening fixtures and will be looking to recover from another difficult afternoon as the league season continues.

Kakamega Homeboyz Rescue Point Against Ulinzi Stars

Elsewhere, Kakamega Homeboyz scored in the closing stages to force a 1-1 draw against Ulinzi Stars at Bukhungu Stadium.

The hosts had entered the match looking to build on their opening-day success, having beaten newly promoted Mombasa United 1-0 in their first fixture.

However, they had to settle for a point after Ulinzi Stars held them for much of the contest before the late equaliser rescued a draw for the home side.

The result gives Kakamega Homeboyz another positive result at the start of their campaign, although they will be disappointed not to have collected all three points on home soil.

Shabana, Nairobi United Play Out Goalless Draw

In another fixture, Shabana FC and Nairobi United shared the points after their encounter ended in a goalless draw at Afraha stadium in Nakuru.

Shabana had opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Posta Rangers and were hoping to maintain that winning momentum. However, they were unable to find a breakthrough against Nairobi United.

For Nairobi United, the draw means they have now shared the points in each of their opening two league matches as they continue their search for a first victory of the season.

The result gives Shabana four points from their opening two matches, while Nairobi United have two points from the same number of games.
