Shabana FC began their 2026/27 FKF Premier League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Posta Rangers at Wang’uru Stadium on Saturday, October 10, 2026, thanks to Abdul Hafiz’s second-half goal.

Hafiz struck in the 68th minute to hand Shabana all three points in a match that saw Posta Rangers play with 10 men for most of the contest following the early dismissal of captain Bernard Ondiek.

Posta Rangers, who were the hosts, suffered the setback just eight minutes into the game when Ondiek was shown a straight red card by referee Murichu Gichinga for a foul on Shabana forward Derrick Otanga.

The referee judged the challenge to have denied Otanga a clear goalscoring opportunity.

The dismissal forced Posta Rangers head coach Zedekiah Otieno to adjust his approach as his side sought to contain Shabana with a numerical disadvantage.

Despite having an extra man, Shabana struggled to find an early breakthrough against a Posta defence that remained organised.

The visitors came close to opening the scoring in the 29th minute when Brian Michira carried the ball towards the penalty area before releasing Otanga.

However, the forward’s effort lacked the power to trouble Posta goalkeeper Fredrick Otinda. Posta held firm for the remainder of the first half, with both sides going into the break level at 0-0.

The second half also began at a measured pace, with neither side managing to create a clear-cut opportunity in the opening stages. Shabana eventually made their numerical advantage count in the 68th minute through a well-executed set-piece routine.

Following a corner kick delivered towards the left side of the penalty area, Brian Bett headed the ball back towards the centre, where Hafiz connected with an overhead kick that beat Otinda and found the back of the net.

The goal proved decisive as Shabana held on to secure their first three points of the new campaign.

The victory also made Shabana the first team to score and win a match on the opening day of the season, following the goalless draw between Mathare United and APS Bomet at Police Sacco Stadium in Nairobi earlier in the day.

Shabana moved to the top of the early league standings with the win, while Posta Rangers dropped to the bottom following their opening-day defeat.
